Bagua can be literally translated to mean “eight trigrams”, which form the building blocks of the I Ching and are linked to blessings such as wealth, health, love and creativity. The map charts where each of these blessings is located in your home. Every area within and without needs to be well maintained and clutter free so that ease, beauty and grace can flow through.
You must do both the inner work and work on your home to experience lasting results.
Welcome to the third instalment of my new Toolbox Tuesdays Series, where I’ll share valuable insights to enhance your lifestyle and support your dreams! I’m so thrilled to be able to offer this type of writing on here. This will become a paid subscriber only section, beginning March 2024. Please enjoy this February vignette on me and let me know if you enjoy it. I’m open to questions and discussions in the comments. This is also a sneak peak version of what I cover in my online boutique coaching container, Matriarch Mentorship, where we go deep and apply it directly in our lives. If you are interested in applying for the mentorship, I take one new person per month, reply to this email and I’ll send you the application. Now taking applications for March.
To map your own home, you will need a bird’s eye drawing, including decks and garages. The map can also be used on each room in the house, or your office, for example. Divide your drawing into 9 equal quadrants and label them with the corresponding area.
(To learn how to do this, register for my free salon on February 29th by replying UPLEVEL in the comments and I’ll send you the link).
Take a good look at each room or area of your home and ask the following questions:
What room or area is located in each Bagua area? (I will teach you this in the free salon).
What possessions are located there?
Are they organized?
Do I love everything I see?
Do I see a correlation between what’s located in each area and the quality of my life?
What can I improve?
What is the first area I’m going to work with?
One of my clients was having trouble figuring out what her next steps were going to be after having her second baby. She loved being a mother, but also was ready to step into some of her passions and feeling confident in what she had to offer. After doing the Bagua Map on her home, I learned that her career area was in her bathroom. When we took a closer look, she had mould on the bathroom ceiling, the sink was at a constant drip (leaking energy) and her toilet seat was alway up (passions and opportunities literally going down the toilet). A few simple cures helped set her on the right track. She cleaned off the mould and cleared out the ceiling fan (an inexpensive fix), she added plants with soft, rounded leaves and tightened the leaky faucet (also an easy fix). She told everyone in her family that the new rule was to always close the lid on the toilet and she added a beautiful inspirational quote on the wall that pertained to her dream vocation. In days she gained clarity on her next step (with our follow up mentorship work) and decided to sell her hand knitted hair bands at a local boutique shop! It gave her a purposeful and enjoyable thing to work on while mothering, and she loved seeing her pieces styled on women in her community. Win-win.
As you begin to rearrange things, it can be chaotic before it gets better. This is important to be aware of, so go easy on yourself and have lots of quality chocolate on hand. Plan to take warm baths or showers and oil your body at the end of the day. Journal what is moving through you. It will all get better, and when it does, it will be exponentially better than before!
Moving stagnant energy gets things flowing and only when the unwanted gets cleared can excellence flow through.
